Lennard spoke! :)

Now we know a tiiiny bit less of nothing about Sylenths development:

His quotation from KVR:

Quote

Please keep your ridiculous rumours and speculations to yourselves, here are some FACTS:

1. Sylenth1 is not, was not and never will be abandoned.
2. The source code did NOT get lost.
3. The last update was May 2010, not 3 years ago.
4. We provide full and fast support on daily basis via email for any problems or questions our customers may have. (However, questions and speculations about future updates/products will be ignored, so don't bother asking. This has always been the case and will always continue to be. This does not mean we are not working on new updates/products (in fact we are), it just means we choose not spread rumours about them).
5. Any future posts on this forum that contain rumours and gossip will be deleted permanently.
6. This topic will be closed.

Question is what he considers as "abandoning" and "new updates/product". Anyway really nice to see that he's not detaching himself from the company personally. :)

KVR is the only place where people think they're entitled to constant nurturing from a developer. He has a product, it's fairly unique and sounds awesome. It works flawlessly almost all the time and when it doesn't he responds to support emails quickly.

What he doesn't respond to is speculation and questions about what's next.

The polar opposite is somebody like Urs at U-He who I have the utmost respect for, but I do wish he and the entire membership at KVR would stfu about his plugins just for one second sometimes.

It's no different to when everyone was raving about Sylenth1 when it was still relatively new. People will talk about what they want to talk about. U-He did just release a new synth after all.

I would love to see a major update to Sylenth1, or maybe even an all new followup synth like a Sylenth2 or something, with lots more modulation options.

+1 That's missing the most. :/ Also PWM wouldn't hurt at all.

Same thing can be said for Ableton Live 9...Consumers have become so accustomed to getting a new model/update/release every single year, that they expect it in everything.

Every second forum is full of people speculating on when it will be released and what additions they want. They moan about Ableton not giving a shit about it's users, and having no direction... The ironic thing is, that a large proportion of them will be flocking to Pirate Bay to download it when it does finally get released.

I was just using U-He as an example of the polar opposite to Lennar. I totally understand why Urs get's all the love on KVR, although I think Diva is a little irrelevant as anything other than an experiment on my machine as I can't even play a 5 note chord on the thing without my CPU giving me a swift kick in the nuts.

And anyway, I don't think Sylenth is about dozens of options. It's about a nice, raw dance synth that doesn't take ages to dial something in, although the filters and distortion on it do make subtle tweaking very rewarding. I still haven't found anything that comes close to that sound apart from a Virus.

You're right, there is a simplistic beauty about Sylenth1 in terms of ease of use. However from a sound designers perspective, more lfos, envs and mod routing would really open the synth up further with more varied and organic sounds. So as I said, it would be great to see a Sylenth2 synth, like Sylenth1, but expanding the engine much further with more modulation.

Well I have it on good authority he's working on an update, but until I see a buy button it's just more speculation.

An update to Sylenth isn't going to make anyone a better producer. I don't use it very often, but I know people who do, and they get some killer sounds out of it with very little effort.

The Minimoog has been around since the 70s, and it's still one of the most coveted synths on the (second-hand) market. Granted it's hardware, so it doesn't quite compare, but the point is that you don't need constant updates to fuel inspiration. I'll hazard a guess and say that -- when people yearn for an update -- they'll just look forward to new presets.

On that note ... Lennie, please work on those shitty onboard FX :P

I've never seen "make better producers" listed as a feature or bug fix in an update changelog. Why would anybody think that it would?

Aint that ironic. One of the most easy to handle synths you know and it's still being used as preset player by many.
Never mind, their voices still count, one day, Lennard may be stop ignoring them and start some less tortureful announcment system. :D

i agree there so much :) i feels really caged there - at least he could make a light and a more advanced version.

lets see if he come up with something new. but i really like my sylenth1 so much.
i can really remember the first time i touched  it was in 2008 november.
its still one of the most used vsts for me - does the job pretty well.

what was with urs there?!

I personally find it bloated, and knob control is a bit sluggish...

But, sound quality is good...

more cpu and memory optimization! always the best upgrade -- filters on the reverb would be cool too

what u want RAM+Cpu usage is optimal imo.
ok reverb is not that bad imo when u use it right i could sound really good i really like this cheap reverb - maybe a few more tweakable options.
more waveforms no doubt.
