Well that's because styles of EDM have a lot of crossover and often a track can fall between different ones! Electronic music is like that where they split into tons of sub-styles And it's not just beatport... the whole industry is using these terms and we can't just ignore that Besides not everyone knows these things and so I broke it down in easy to understand terms.
a simple reply will work:
are you going to jump off a bridge just because everyone else is doing it. the majority of people doing something does not necessarily denote correctness. Para example: Most people believe in god, doesn't make it right.
Para example dos: beatport labels things a certain way, for some unfortunate reason they've become a leader in EDM music distribution. Just because they've chosen to label things a certain way, taking a shit on labels people have invested heavily in, does not denote correctness.
let my good friend say it better:

Oh dear, I hope haven't confused anyone We're not obeying any rules or standards that Beatport, DJs, or the rest of the music industry have set. It makes sense to call trancey house "progressive house" or "trouse" It's widely accepted for a good reason and I actually do consider it to be an appropriate label based on the song structure of that kind of house and its elements. I mean it's logical to me to classify the two sub-styles of progressive house as the clubby big room kind and the deep/melodic kind.
But I'm not even sure why you guys are even taking an issue with this. I mean none of these tracks in my top 15 deep progressive chart are big room.
Let's get back on topic about the top 15 deep progressive of the year! Perhaps you want to post your own top 15 list?

That Soulforge track is really nice thanks for sharing
You should check out labels like macarize, alter ego progressive, neuroscience deep, werecommend records and I'm skipping alot. These can bring very nice stuff, sometime even better than the big labels
