I think it has some (pretty good) frequency splitter. It leaves signal above the splitting frequency untouched and it sumes up signal below to make it mono.
So, if U set frequency to 20kHz (if that's possible, can't remember now), then yes, it can convert whole sound to mono, but you can do it with any utility plugin, even the one in your DAW.
Edit: Oooor it could filter low end from Side signal. Same effect really.

Just conjecture, but likely it acts like a mid/side EQ. The frequency knob would set the EQ frequency for a low shelf on the sides signal, and the width knob would adjust the shelf level.

quite easy with ableton audio effect rack - thats why i love Live - the RACKS
Audiorack 3 chains and in every individually dchain a multiband compressor. u can add for the lowband an utility and set the width to 0%
then u can select on every chain 1 of try bands

My idea was using rack too, but use dedicated filters with synchronised frequencies on macros for every band(=chain). But somehow this does't work.

explain ur idea more pls
ok ill try 3 chains on on every an autofilter right?! and this maped and synced
yh sounds similar to the multiband method.
btw i have no idea what bloody filters are in there
ok here is the adg for the splitter i meant

Well my idea was pretty much the same, but for frequency isolation of the bands I didn't use multiband compressors, but auto filters, filters in EQ, lot of other types of filters.... Nothing worked properly.
Well as I think about it, may be those cross-over frequencies need some offset to work right that is solved already in the multiband compressor.
