Hi there,

Excellent new supersaw patch over on propellerheads forums.

Here's the forum entry:
https://www.propelle...ad.php?t=153438

Here's the excellent sounding patch:

Not my work - props to Mastrcode for the design.

Thought it might be of interest to people here who don't regularly visit the propellerheads fourms.

far from brilliant imo

A tad dated sounding, but I still like it. From what I could tell, it has 14 subtractors in it? From a CPU standpoint, that seems a little overkill. I'd still like to see how the filter envelope modulation works though.

14 Subtractors? :1eye:

Just get Adam's JP6k and a decent DAW that supports VSTs and you'll be in supersaw heaven.

gahhhh but the point is to keep using Reasonnnnnn!!!!!!!!!

and yea that is a bit overkill as Joey said.... The sound could probably be done in fewer... Or just go to thor and you can make that sound in 3-4 instances.

I understand the concept. Use subtractors to reconstruct the oscillator and envelope structure of the supersaw waveform. Kinda neat, pretty academic.

I actually tried out the patch tonight, I'd say that as far as sound quality I'm impressed enough, but the amount of modulations that need to be done in order to make it whatever you're trying to build (pluck, high end pads, ruddy bass line) are just so arduous. I'm going to work on the patch myself some to try and give it versatility. Having a switch for decay, release, and filter envelopes would be really helpful.

Looking forward to it.

Although I posted this in the first place, I actually do share some of the comments about how many subtractors this takes. Having recently switched to logic, I do enjoy firing up something like sylenth and getting it's weighty sound. In reason - excellent thought it is, it's often the case of having to work around to get the sound you need. This is especially so when I watch Daniel Kandi's recent youtube video

Some of the synths he's making - by piecing together the different synths from reason - really do look so complicated! Gazillions of subtractors all hooked together :-)

Not trying to start a flaming war - I still use both :-)

Nice vid too bad they shot it on an iPhone.

Reason's best attribute is layering. Here is a demo of similar example:

Two combinators each containing 7 Thors. Filter sweeps are done using SSL mixer. The subtractor almost sounds needlessly complex. Def an amazing effort and result to achieve a certain kind of sound!
