i was just wondering how many of you use any of these plugins on your bass?
what situations you would use them?
how and where do you use them in your chain?

i kind of have an idea how they work, they generate harmonic content am i right?

thinks its the effect used in mat zo's mix of lifted, kinda hard to describe.

so yea i was thinking of maybe using R-bass on my "kick and bass" buss along with some multiband compression (C4) on the low end.? i was thinkign maybe it would help my low end become tighter alowing the illusion of lower bass that isnt actually there. not sure if thats how it works though.

had them in my plugin list for some time but never really got round to learning how to use them properly and want to see if there would be any benefits in doing so.



gonna give it a try now but any advice would be great.

Well that's a solid idea as long as you have a firm grip on compression some people will over use that technique and there low end goes out of control. You are they do generate harmonics for really low notes and it provides upper harmonics to make the bass sound bigger and "fatter"

cheers for the replys guys, i hav ebeen experimenting with it and i do find it is better to use it on individual tracks as the intensity amounts have to be different for each sound so putting it on a buss channel wasnt giving me the best result.
have found that it does help get your kick and bass gel together a lot more. i will than compress my low kick and bass together on a buss and i have to say it does really help get them ultra tight. that sean tyas video really helped by the way cheers.
the effect i was goign for was thexaclty how the axwell clip shows and then i layered a mid bass on top.
will probs do a short tutorial on what i have done for others if they are intrerested.

Here is an example of what RBass can do, first loop has no effect the second one does - it is only applied to the bassline though, the kick has no processing other than a bit of EQ.
