Don't say that, Bluffmonkey recommended me the MK2s, they have to be good :(.

They are closed, you cannot compare them to the opened ones. Closed are used for different purposes than opened.
The 271MK2 are very good, if you consider their class.

You can mix fine on the 271's, they're just not as ideal as semi open/open headphones. If you're used to closed headphones and reference properly there's no reason why you can't get an excellent mix from either.

Here's a rough mix I did on my K271's last night, it's a basic outline of a vocal track I'm working on and so far there's about 90 minutes work in it. The point is you can get very close to a good mix very quickly. You'll have to download it to avoid the shite SC encoding.

Hey guys! You have all been SUUPPERR helpful :D! Here's a list I've compiled of the headphones you've all recommended thus far. Does it look right to you guys? And if any of you have more suggestions, tips, or helpful advice...please keep it all coming :)

The price of the K701 is ridiculous, if you live in USA. :) I guess they buy high volumes, that's why the prices are way lower than they should be. K701 is the direct competition of the Senns HD600, and those cost 100$ more!

I actually have these

Those are the Q701s ... really just a repackaged K701 with funky colors and Quincy's signature. I got them cheap on a price match. When I say cheap, I mean $250 (list price = $399). One of the best audio investments I've made. I'm currently in the process of learning them all over again, since I've been on a music making hiatus for the past 6 months. Great cans if you can afford them.

Only gripe is the headband, which is a very common complaint with these. The ridges are pretty hard and put pressure on you noggin' after a while. The way I see it, once it starts to feel uncomfortable, it's time to take a break anyway.

Just got to say how much I am loving - LOVING - my Unique Melody Miracles.

They really are superb. I've used both Senn 580s (too warm for monitoring really), and AKG 701s (but you always wonder whether you low end is ok.

These are just superb. The balance across the spectrum is really natural, and the sound is simply unbelievable.

Is there much difference between the AKG Studio's K121, K240 and K240 MKII? They're all semi-open and when it comes to price they're pretty close - £67, £74 and £101 respectively at thomann.de
