Even more off topic, is that a home made bass trap in the pretty cotton pillowcase in the first pic?

I needs to make me some of those soon.

Haha yes, the poor mans DIY trapping  , but it works well. I have larger self stapled fabric covered blocks as well placed here and there. The only one I could be bothered to make a proper nice looking wooden frame for was the rear wall 1st reflection point trap.

The reason why there's 4" pyramid Auralex foam in there too is because I bought it early on at a time I knew little about the absorption properties of different materials and how much more effective certain insulation materials are, but now that I have it might as well still use it. If it was 3" or less I mighta sold them off.

Bit off topic I know, but I've been lucky enough to be given a demo pair of sE Munro Eggs to test out. I'll post up a review on here after a few days if anyones interested in new monitors around that price range.

Interesting Monitors. Btw, are they passive monitors? How much is it? :)

Congrats :) Wanna know how is it with your interface. I use Novation IO2|4 interface. Btw, how much did you pay for 702? Is more expensive than 701?

You could make a sidways price move and an audio upwards move by switching to Yamaha HS80M's

They are here, got em 15 min ago. My God, i am simply blown away. People said they have little bass. No way, bass is so clear and nicely detailed.
Soundstage is amazing, so detailed, could hear so many stuff going on that i missed on my Rockit G2's monitors.

Comparing them to the monitors, headphones are a bit more punchy, but the overall balance is the same. So i can clearly see me mix on these.

Keep in mind, i listened them on my Scarlett 2i2. Also, they had no burn in or what so ever.

Please tell me if you got any questions. Now back to listening. :D

I also got before the AKG K271MK II, K121 Studio, Sennheiser HD598, HD555 & HD518. K702 blows every single one of these away.

Yeah. I tested them a couple of months ago and the K702 were gorgeous, exactly what I was looking for, but couldn't afford it. Amazon.ca sucks bawls anyways, so getting a good deal here is almost impossible

But yeah, nice to know you're loving 'em. Hope to hear some new tunes from you while mixing with those cans :D

I now only have the K702 and some cheap closed K77.
Some work coleagues also have some HD518 and 595 so i will make an a/b to check the soundstage, if that's what's interesting you. :P

But it's not really the soundstage that impressed me the most on these K702, but the detail, you can literally hear every single hiss and bug of a track.

What are you using for bass absorbtion?

I'll need to make some corner traps but they need to be temporary and moveable so ideally they don't want to be too massive (in terms of weight).

I'm thinking triangular about 2' across with an MDF frame filled with Rockwool, with the mass covering between 2' and 5' in height.

Glad to know that you happy with it MaDI, I also read a lot of good reviews for K702 on many sites. It's one of the best in "Neutral" frequency response. But I have one question that is it comfort? Because I have used K271 (old version, not MKII) and I don't really like K271 because it's too tide on my head and ears. I don't even wanna listen to any sound as it's not comfort at all. But I have read K702 is so comfortable in reviews. So you have also used K271 and K702 and let me how K702's comfortable?

K702 - very light on the ears, like feathers. :) But tight on the head, the strap is not that good, hurts your head a bit if you have short hair, you need to reposition the headphones every 1-2 hours. :(

As for the mixing on them, they still need time to burn in and get to maturity sound wise. I did something though, 70% done, mixed and pre-mastered on the K702, the rest on my RP5 G2's.

WIP, i know there are problems; arrangement is just for this sample, nothing final.

I'd class the whole thing as an active system. It's just that they've taken the approach of housing the amps seperately and connecting via the standard speakon format. But definitely do NOT use this amp or those speakers with any other amp or speakers. They are designed to work with each other only using only the cables supplied.

Digital Village has a online price of £1649

Mineral Wool fibre is probably your best bet, with established gas flow resistance properties. The general rule is the thinner the panel the higher the density and vice versa. For a panel thats say 12" thick, even just standard fluffy fibre glass would do. If one could lose that amount of room space, would absorb down to very low frequency indeed. Or there's using a combo of fibre + rigid vibrating panel, sealed enclosures vrs open etc etc.

Really its best just to head over to the gearslutz subforum, its such a heavy in depth subject with soo many variables, all the info you need right there:

I've absolutely caned my ears in the past from sitting at a synth or grooveboxes, plugged in directly with my DJ headphones ! not good !..... I just shelled out for a set of Event 20/20's, am loving em..... and my ears dont feel as though there bleeding after a couple of hours, I still have issues of setting up my room properly as far as proper accoustics goes. But It's a definite improvement !!

Ok, so after about 2 weeks, and only 3-4 hours of listening a day the bass got significantly better. Also, the mid-highs are less fatiguing. Will come back with updates.

Thanks MaDI. Glad that you enjoy with K702. I have seen a lot of Good reviews about it's soundstage and detail.
For me, I ordered HD650 and I'm gonna get it tomorrow and will write my opinion on it :)
