"Above & Beyond are a genuine phenomenon... arguably the biggest DJing and production collective the UK has ever produced." DJ Mag

Above & Beyond’s 2011 has been all about one thing – landmarks. In January they celebrated 10 years of their Anjunabeats label, before March’s 200th single release on the imprint; the Beatport #1 hit “Rebound” by Arty & Mat Zo.

In April, Jono, Tony and Paavo then embarked on their biggest ever tour of the US with a road blocked 22-date stretch, including two sold out shows at LA’s legendary Hollywood Palladium, with the first selling out in just 90 minutes - a new record for the legendary venue.

After seeing their “Sun & Moon” anthem playlisted by BBC Radio 1 and reach the top 15 of the Billboard Dance Charts in the US, the trio were ready to unveil their second artist album – “Group Therapy.” Earning them a cover star interview with DJ Magazine and described as “stadium dance with an incredibly personal feel” and “artist album of the year” in a Mixmag review, the string-laden album has been praised by critics and fans alike for its emotive, song-based electronic music.

In such a fast moving year, it seems fitting to close on a familiar totem pole in Above & Beyond’s annual calendar; the Anjunabeats Volume series. Capturing the present and future sound of the label, Anjunabeats Volume 9 offers 2 CDs of predominantly unreleased, exclusive tracks from the label.

That kind of language has been used to describe every compilation in the series thus far. What do you want them to say, 'Capturing the sound of the label from 5 years ago'?

Any excuse for the predictable whinging to start ;)

Would it be too much to ask for everyone to approach this release with an open mind?

Anyway, I'm pretty excited by this news and can't wait to see the tracklist (although I'd bet my life on one particular track being on there!).

EXCITED! Artwork looks cool :) Exclusive tracks also sounds good!

Given that the majority of Anjunabeat's latest output is trance, I expect it to be around 50% trance.

The other 50% will be the Deep stuff, which will be house/electro/etc style stuff.

How anyone can think otherwise, given that this is how every Volume comp has been beforehand, is beyond me.

I'm personally looking forward to it. The one BIG thing I'm not looking forward too is the tracks I really like, that I'll have to wait a few months for a proper release!

I'm afraid most people are unaware of the true meaning of this statement...

i sense this will be a let down.
early days i know, but i'm predicting farts and prog overdose and a real 'commercial' feel to it. What A&B play out in their current sets and on TATW should give a real good indication of "the future sound" and what to expect on the comp.
I could be totally wrong and it could turn out to be something that ends up on repeat but atm i feel its not going to be like any of the previous volumes.

For Gods sake. You don't even KNOW what's going to be on there and you are already complaining. Start your whining when you actually have HEARD snippets of the tracks on the compilation. God, this forum has gone downhill....

Oh, but yes I am excited as always.

of course i don't.

I'm just speculating and attempting to justify why i think that. "I could be wrong" <_<

totally unnecessary mate - lets hear the samples and then you can sharpen your knives. I am sure there is a high probability of what you say is true but still ;)
