I thought this was worthy of it's own thread, seeing as much of this has been talked about in the "Quality of Juna releases" thread, i thought it should have it's own.

This thread is also an attempt to get a more accurate reading from anjuna fans about what's preferred nowadays

Please vote and explain why and if you feel the need to, talk about your opinions and why your elated / disappointed in the change of the genre, how you feel it should remain uplifting etc.

Me personally i am an big Uplifting trance fan, don't get me wrong i still love progressive but there is a distinctive beauty to uplifting trance.

Artists like, Daniel Kandi, Dan Stone, A&B, 7 Skies and so on, in my opinion leave the progressive artists for dead. They are in a completely different league!

I still can't believe that 'Uplifting' actually became a subgenre.

Can a nice record at 128bpm not make you feel 'uplifted'?

Sure it can, but i meant uplifting as the BPM i.e. Nitrous Oxide: 138BPM

null vote

uplifting, progressive trance, progressive house, tech house, deep house, minimal, euphoric, all have their moments and depending on what mood i'm in i'lll listen to any and all of them so, for me, there isn't a 'better' genre :walkman:

How about "progressive uplifting" trance...

Which is already a genre of course...

Sorry, but this is a stupid thread. Why the need to pigeon hole tracks into genres anyway?

But surely you can see the problem? 'Uplifting trance' is defined purely by it's bpm, not whether it is indeed uplifting or not. Plenty of 138bpm trance tracks bore me to tears.

Both, I've always pretty much enjoyed all of the sub-genres of trance (Besides the white noise, electro influenced trance and pop influenced we have today)

I also don't mind the psy progressive trance as well like the ones from E-Clip, Zyce, Flegma and Float.I even like proper commercial trance from Ian van Dahl, DJ Sammy and Lasgo they actually produced some nice cheese.

This is such a beautiful remix, the whole EP is really nice as well.

Progressive here. As I've grown older, I've found that I now like my music to grow on me with time, and seep into the subconcious, rather than saturate my senses with heavenly melodies and full-on energy.

Don't get me wrong, I still love all that kinda stuff. But it's limited to a few artists at the minute - notably, Joe Garrett (Temple One) and Arty. They just seem to have the formula that still does it for me.

Back in 2002, when Sasha's 'Airdrawndagger' was released, I ignored it in my local record shop.
I could easily say I was a fool for doing such a thing - but I s'pose looking back, I just wasn't ready for it.
Now I listen to it and think... it's an absolute masterpiece, and arguably one of thee best progressive / EDM albums ever made. :)

I wish producers made more of these kinds of uplifting trance.

Wow that was inspiring, I might have to try producing something with a similar mood to that. I love how it doesn't have one ounce of cheesiness in it, just straight-forward, progressing, trance-inducing euphoria.

Why is there no option for tech?

I feel tech trance taps into a different aspect of humanity: a primal, almost-druidic sense of connection to the earth. Locked deep within each human mind is a link to the animal that truly resides within each of us. Its unrefined nature is what makes it glorious. A trance does need to be white and full of joyous emotion or saddening melody. It can be black and raw, powerful and uncontrollable yet focused.

Long live Simon Patterson, Mark Sherry, RAM, Dave Schiemann, etc. :)

Here's another great example of 'uplifting trance':

Which, incidentally, plays normally at 125bpm.

You're welcome.I think most of the producers have forgotten how to produce proper uplifting trance.

@Sword_of_truth nice track!
