Los Angeles: Monster Massive 2010

Will be heading to see the likes of Gareth Emery, Carl Cox, John Digweed, Marcus Schossow, and more on October 23rd. Any other Anjunabeats folks headed to this? Would love to meet up with some of you if you are.

A lot of people have said the lineup is lacking, but they're probably the noobs who only appreciate Top 10, first tier DJ's (i.e. Armin, A&B, etc). I'm actually digging the lineup; Gareth is a consistently talented DJ, and I've heard great things about John Digweed (anyone seen him live?). Carl Cox is also highly skilled, and hasn't been in LA for something like 10 years apparently. Regardless of whether or not you guys are going, what do you think of the lineup? What should I expect musically?

Except a night of Cocoon style tech house/techno/prog from Yousef, banging techno from Carl Cox (see him), banging techno from Moby (see him), and tribal juiciness from Steve Lawler, Diggy will be a blend of different things, my guess is deep house, tech house, techno and prog. Only question is how crowded it's gonna be this year and how bad the energy is gonna be. I had a horrible time last year, got way too drunk, waaaay too many people to walk anywhere, waay too many young kids rolling balls all over the floor, lots of cholos who can't leave their ego at the door who wanted to fight everybody...in short, one of the worst parties ever. Lineup was perfect though. :P Hopefully the age limit adds a little maturity...doubt it though.

Drives me nuts.

I know...especially when you just wanna dance and have a good time!

I hate it too. If I'm rolling I make a top effort to remain standing. People who sit down are honestly not only a buzzkill but a safety hazard too.

I'll be there! Been going to MM since 2008. 2008's party was by far one of my favorite events ever out of the many many i've been to, even though the main stage inside the arena was a sardine can with sweat literally dripping off the ceiling (or raver rain as its better known as). Last years sucked big time though! Waited 2 hours in line, sketchy cholos trying to start crap, kids rolling bawls and crowding up the dancefloor space with their cuddle puddles, bad vibes, and just an all around disorganized setup with a weak main stage setup.

I for one am glad about the lineup this year. I would've liked at least 1 other trance act on the main stage, but I'm just happy that for once the main stage DOESN'T have Armin or PVD. MM 2004: PVD, MM 2006: Armin and PVD, MM 2007: Armin, MM 2008: PVD, MM 2009: Armin. Finally they woke and smelt the coffee that their headnliners were just stale and "safe" so as to sell more tickets and overcrowd the venue even more. Haha. Even though Markus Schulz has played it a bunch (2005, 2006, 2007, 2008), I never get tired of him. He dropped the best set of all time that I've ever heard from any DJ ever at 2008's event. Judge Jules has been at this event a bunch too (2004, 2006, 2007, 2008), but he usually throws it down pretty good with some killer buildups and sick drops.

The 18+ should help a bunch for this event. It was a HUGE success at Nocturnal Festival a couple weeks ago and also at the smaller LoveFest @ the Sports Arena back in August. It should cut down on the crowds a bit too (I Hope). I just wish they'd have the main stage back in the Sports Arena. It was just too epic when it was inside there. Absolutely stunning when the lights and lasers were in full swing and everyones got their glowsticks and LED's flashing all over the place. A truly awe-inspiring experience.

Anyways.... I'm stoked! Going with 2 of my friends. Going to be wearing my German Lederhosen outfit that I got in Germany over the summer while on Study Abroad for engineering so if any of you spot someone in a leather lederhosen outfit.... it's most likely me :)
