Working With A Vocalist...

Hello...

So I've started a project that I think would be perfect for vocals however I can't sing worth shit and have no proper vocal recording equipment.

How do I go about finding/working with a vocalist? Basically I need to know everything there is to know about approaching someone, compensation, working with them, explaining them how I want it to go, the melody etc...

I need to start from scratch.

Any advice?

yes well very touchy ground if not done correctly. basically its your own preference. just talk to people on the net and on facebook etc etc get to know them a little and then offer them an idea or your idea as to what you want to achieve and what direction your going in. and see if it works for them. most recording artists will charge you around £60-90 session fee for recorded vox. this means you own all the rights completely to the material (unless she wrote it) then she has publishers rights legally. best thing to do basically is get someone on board and pay them a session fee but get them to sign all the rights over to you. or if your skint try and get them to work along side you and see if they will work for nothing and you cut them in on what you have planned. i wont lie its bleeding hard working with vocalist's some can be very touchy and some or not very upfront. good luck with it man. oh let me add theres loads of vocalists that i speak to that do it for free totally just to promote there name, heres a girl who works for nothing and she says she is best at trance style music
