Reason 5.0 Just released, anyone notice?

Looks like the Props guys made it a tad more interesting.

PROPELLERHEADS!

The parts that interest me are the live sampling option and the added tweakability in the rex loop player. Just kinda sucks you can't get the Neptune pitch corrector in Reason by itself...

Nonetheless, looks pretty cool for the Reason users out there!

Some of the stuff looks cool (not sure if it's entirely update worthy, admittedly). I wanted to upgrade simply because of Record (Reason 5 is just 'added benefit'), but can't afford it at this point in time, so it'll have to wait.

i want say that the new reason version had not really new synths or other things!
and i was thinking about the fx/ synth in camparision to live or fl!

so that was my point - maybe a lil bit confused explained hehe! but its early in the morning here! ;)

Dunno, there's enough interesting stuff in there for me, to be honest. Apparently Kong sounds phenomenal too - so it's quite tempting. I also wouldn't mind the added Record stuff (added fx and processing abilities never hurt). But.. alas.. $$ :P

sure - i like the synth in reason and how simple u can create a supersaw sound with the detuner!
but right u cant expend the fx rack and this is a big fat minus for reason!

the best would be if they can add a vst support!

btw could some1 explain what are the tasks of record?!

I just don't understand how you could use a DAW with no VST support? Madness, madness I tell you!

The digital setting on the "Scream Distortion Unit" does a lovely job of bitcrushing - especially if several Scream units are combined.

Small upgrade it seems. I think I will wait and see what Reason 6 brings.

I know, I quite like them (a friend uses it so I've had a go when I was round his) but there's nothing like having the option and flexibility of installing a VST...there are literally thousands out there so if for any reason you need to generate a particular sound/FX the chances are there is a VST plugin to help you.

ok i tested all things there:

The "Korg Drum Pad" there is really cute: i like it its better than the redrum ;)
Dr. Octo Rex - the looping is improved in my opinion - the looping parts are suiting much better as in the last version!
the things with the block is also really cool - u get a more optimized work - all in one eye!
in the past it was hard to understand whats going on in one project - if u havnt worked a long time on that project - but now u understand how a project is blocked or better structurised!
ok one other thing is that the Factory Refill is double sized as the last one! ... but i dont looked in detail what samples are added there!

but all in all - not really a lot of new features for a new version number!

some1 know what functions are included in record?! ... or is something like an addition to reason?! ...with vst support?!

I use Reason for pretty much everything, and the biggest improvements in 5 for me are:

  • Blocks - very useful, but takes a little getting used to
  • Improved sequencer and controls, more predictable editing behaviour, zooming/moving/etc. works better
  • Kong - not just a cute little tool. It's a ridiculously powerful drum designer. Redrum is a toy in comparison.

I don't think there's much they could have done for a major release without rewriting the whole app, considering it's pretty complete. The synths are incredibly powerful and high quality, etc.
