its all about back in 2000, those were the best times for wwf. royal rumble 2000 street fight, cactus jack vs. hhh was epic

That's when i got back (from when i was a kid around 1993ish) into it....probably one of the first ppv's i saw, and i only got back into it because it was on Channel 4, always watched Sunday Night Heat.....at midday on Sunday... blink.gif

But that was a great PPV!

Thing is...

HHH v Orton - seen it before
Edge v Cena - seen it before
HBK v Taker - seen it before
Jeff v Matt - seen it before

Is this the best they could come up with for the 25th anniversary?

Even though some of the matches have been done before I still like the way they have gone about booking them this time.

The HHH Vs Orton feud has become even more personal and I think this could really catapult Orton’s career even further if he beats HHH at Mania, making him the best heel (besides Jericho and Edge) that the company has had in ages. I just hope he can beat him clean.

Undertaker & HBK should be nothing short of great and it has been a long time since they have faced each other, and never under these circumstances before.

I think the MITB has been booked quite well, you have a good mix of competitors in there and no clear winner as of yet. Yes, Henry & Kane is a strange booking, but I can see one of these (probably Henry) taking a big bump early on and spending the rest of the match outside the ring with the other providing a couple of big powerhouse moves in it as well. Hoping for an MVP win as I would love to see him in the World Title picture, failing that Christian would be a good option, and even if he has won it before Punk could come out looking like an (even more) legitimate main event player after winning this last year.

Add to these three matches something involving the tag titles with Miz & Morrison (Title Vs Title Again Carlito & Primo) and a possible return for Evan Bourne against Swagger and there should be enough technical matches along with the more gimmicky ones like the Jericho Vs a Legend match.

Not overly fussed about the Edge/Cena/Show match to be honest, but at least it is a little bit more interesting that just Cena Vs Edge again.

Hoping JBL doesn't face Kozlov, that would be the lowest point of the card. Would be better to just put him against Rey..

When have they faced each other in the past? Can't ever remember this happening..unsure.gif

Looks like its steamboat piper and snuka vs Jericho to complete the match list.

Really? The booking this year has been atrocious. The start of the Orton angle was great... punting Shane and Vince, and RKOing Stephanie, and generally being an utter dick to everyone. HHH making the save and being all mad was great, but the last two weeks have been terrible... a no attack clause in the contract being followed by sledge hammer shots, interferences, beat downs and then house break in. All stupid. First rule of booking is that the opponents don't touch each other until the match.

And then Orton goes and cuts the greatest babyface promo in the business this week on RAW. "You attacked me, but I won't press charges because I want to exact my own justice in the ring at WM." Stupid beyond believe.

The build for the other match has been fine, if a little soaptastic... but ultimately it's for a match no one cares about. And the less said about the utter shambles that is the 'legends' match the better. JBL is now facing Rey for the IC title with no build (first time it's been defended at WM since 18), so expect JBL to win clean, retire and hang up the belt.

The new tag belt unification and Bourne vs Swagger matches have saved WM for me though, and now that they have officially been added, I'm edging back towards buying the ppv again.

They had a short lived feud in 2001 after the disasterous Invasion story finished, culminating in a god aweful match at Vengeance 2001. It was such a horrid match, and the feud was so tepid, that the WWE pulled the plug on their rivaly and they went straight back to being a team. Nobody wants to see them fighting each other, it doesn't make sense at all.

They should have left Christian in that role, rather than changing their minds at the last minute in order to swerve~! the fans.

I agree there, i just hope he isn't wasted on the midcard for the rest of his time in the WWE as he is one of my favourite wrestlers.

I think the key phrase this year has been "...and by the way..." because things just seem to...happen...for no reason whatsoever. Eg...

HHH vs Orton...oh and by the way they can't touch each other...oh they have...oh and by the way it's now no DQ
Big Show vs Edge...oh and by thew way Cena's in it as well
Jeff vs Matt...oh and by the way Matt did all that s**t to Jeff. Not Christian.
Oh, and by the way, JBL is defending his belt

etc

Yeah, because all the wrestlers are unfit ugly c**ts who sit on their arses... Dismissing WWE as fake fighting is like dismissing DJs as people who play records - while it's the truth, you and I both know there's a lot more to it than that.

If you are indeed a UFC fan, you'll know that the level of fitness needed for pro-wrestling is on a par with UFC. You'll also know that injuries in either sport are frequent, and that people can spent their whole lives getting themslves to a level that they can compete at.

Frankly, aside from the fact I'd gladly help out Randy Orton or Batista in a moment of need wub.gif, I watch for the fitness and skill on display. I watch because I want a good show more than I want to see someone being physically destroyed. I watch because Shawn Michaels is one of my heroes (ask him how fake wrestling is when he broke his back). I watch because it fires me up to get in the gym myself on a daily basis. And most importantly, I watch because I enjoy it. Whereas I've given UFC countless tries and found it bland.

What an irony it is that one of your recent UFC champions spent years in WWE prior to becoming anywhere near known in UFC. The fact that you feel a need not only to watch that boring brutal rubbish, but also trash-talk others for not doing so speaks volumes about your character, and probably your state of mind as well.

That Judgement Day event where Undertaker came back right in the middle of the Rock VS HHH feud was one of the best moments ever for me.

Absolutely incredible - never heard any cheer quite like it and I had no idea he was coming back - proper shivers down spine moment.

Thought I'd post these here, just in case anyone is interested in the indie scene... ROH aired their first tv show last night, and for a first attempt it's pretty awesome. Couple of decent matches in there, including the main event which was easily a very passable 3.5* match. What's more important though is that there's minimal bullshit angles or wacky commedy... it's just straight good wrestling by great workers. WWE and TNA eat your heart out.

Nigel McGuiness on next weeks show too, who's a good old boy... straight up London born and bread. No relation though wink.gif

I also enjoyed DX vs. Nation which was slightly before this era i believe!

now it's pretty trash =\

I think the in-ring action has improved quite a bit over the years, probably not as big personalities as those days, but better in-ring performers.

edit:

BTW Hardy Vs Hardy has been made Extreme Rules, there should be some big pops in this match.

On this sunday.

Looking forward to the HHH Vs Randy Orton match now, even if they have faced each other countless times in the past). I wasn't overlly keen on the promo with the McMahon's coming out on Monday and the added stipulation (which i hope gets overturned), but apart from that the feud has really developed and Randy has played his part excellently, hopefully he will pick up the win!

Other matches i am looking forward to are: Miz & Morrinso Vs The Colons,MITB (always entertaining) and Undertaker Vs HBK will no doubt be a great match, even if it is quite obvious who will win.

Will check this out when i get home, used to watch ROH quite often when The Wrestling Channel first came onto Sky, some great workers who are now well known in WWE/TNA came from there and i am sure more will follow. Is Nigel McGuiness still on a WWE development contract? I know he was some time back, but it didn't lead anywhere.

So... did anyone watch it?

Imo... anyone with a passing interest in wrestling needs to see the HBK vs Undertaker match. The result was never in doubt, but the match was just so awesome it has to be seen. Those two guys were so great, it was quite possibly the best WM match ever, and that's saying something. It was very much a 5 star match. Although I did scream like a girl at one point when I thought one of them had actually ligit just killed himself... won't spoil it here.

Download it/buy the dvd/pay for the replay/find it on youtube/whatever.... that match really does have to be watched.

With the exception of the MitB match, the rest of the show pretty much blew.

Heh, a wrestling topic on a Trance forum. I love it!

Wrestling has been dead ever since WCW went out of business. Of course that's a biased opinion since I loved WCW but that doesn't mean it's not true!!
